A New Year 2021 and A New Message

Following Jesus with the Whole Armor of God

“Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his might. Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places. Therefore, take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand firm. Stand therefore, having fastened on the belt of truth, and having put on the breastplate of righteousness, and, as shoes for your feet, having put on the readiness given by the gospel of peace. In all circumstances take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming darts of the evil one; and take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God, praying at all times in the Spirit, with all prayer and supplication. To that end, keep alert with all perseverance, making supplication for all the saints, and also for me, that words may be given to me in opening my mouth boldly to proclaim the mystery of the gospel, for which I am an ambassador in chains, that I may declare it boldly, as I ought to speak.”  Ephesians 6:10-20 (ESV)

As we embark on a New Year, I am filled with gratitude and joy for how God continues to bless Community of Love. Together we have accepted God’s invitation to learn how to love one another and the fruit of this great task is the fellowship that we experience as Community of Love Christian Fellowship. 2020 has been a difficult year for us all as we have experienced various kinds of losses, but we have also been tremendously blessed by the increase of the fruit of the Holy Spirit in our individual lives and our life together. God has blessed us with one another and for that I am overwhelmingly grateful.

In 2021 we will strengthen our commitment to living lives that express and reflect love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control as we “Follow Jesus with the Whole Armor of God.” Over the course of the year all of our preaching and teaching will encourage our desire to follow Jesus with our ongoing commitment to prayer and action. This extended season of coronavirus and racial unrest has helped us to not only remember God’s promise to “never leave nor forsake us,” but also Jesus’ charge for us to spread the word! So, we are going to follow Jesus by putting on the Whole Armor of God in 2021.

Although we will start the year off virtually, we still commit to staying together. Therefore, I ask that you please make sure to prepare a half of teaspoon of oil (olive oil, baby oil or the like) per person, as you prepare your communion table for Sunday. We are going to consecrate ourselves in the anointing of the Holy Spirit so that we will stay “on mission” in 2021. Now that you know where we are headed in the New Year, bring your family and loved ones, invite your friends and co-workers and let’s grow in faith and love, together!

I look forward to seeing you this Sunday at 12:30 PM (EST) on Facebook, YouTube or on the COLCF website, as we experience our Consecration Sunday full of prayer and praise! Come join us!!

Wishing you and your loved ones a safe, blessed and amazing 2021!
